Uphill Horticultural Society: a Potted History

The Uphill Horticultural Society was formed in 1947 to encourage all forms of horticulture and handicrafts and to promote an annual exhibition in the village.

A show has been held every year since then and now takes place on a Friday and Saturday at the end of July in the Victory Hall. With over 130 classes, most of which are open to all, it is the only two-day show in the area and regularly attracts about 800 entries.

The Society has a good relationship with Uphill Primary School and the show has several classes for all ages of children. It is a friendly show for both the keen gardener and the absolute beginner alike.
