Scouts - Beavers - Cubs
The Scout Association provides adventurous
activities and personal development opportunities for 400,000
young people aged 6-25. Internationally, we have over 28
million young people enjoying the benefits of Scouting across
218 countries.
Personal development means promoting the
physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being
of the individual, helping them achieve their full potential.
In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when
they are 'learning by doing,' when they are given responsibility,
work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.
Incorporated as a charity by Royal Charter
in 1912, The Scout Association in the United Kingdom, seeks
to provide young people with opportunities to participate
in adventurous outdoor activities, learn team-building skills
and develop new friendships. It is firmly committed to co-education
so that boys and girls can develop together and meet the
aims of Scouting through one programme. |

Brownies - Rainbows
Being a Rainbow, Brownie, Guide or member
of the Senior Section opens up a world of opportunities
that will last a lifetime. It provides a safe, girl-only
space to explore the activities, issues and possibilities
that are available to girls today.
The range of activities is enormous and there's
something, or more than something, to appeal to everyone,
from outdoor challenges to learning new skills, international
travel to getting involved in community action projects.
And whether abseiling and canoeing or having your say on
how we operate, one thing is certain. You'll make a lot
of friends and have a lot of fun.

Neighbourhood Watch
As
a force, Avon and Somerset Constabulary have been committed to
Neighbourhood Watch since it was first introduced into the UK
in the early 1980's. We recognise that Neighbourhood Watch schemes
play a vital role in preventing crime and improving a community.
- We have the second oldest scheme in the country.
- We work closely with residents and local organisations
to support and increase membership across the force area.
- We have Ringmaster, a dedicated Watch messaging
system, operated by nine dedicated local Neighbourhood Watch
Administrators as well as an HQ-based Development Officer.
- In Avon and Somerset there are over 20 different
sorts of watch including Pub Watch, Church Watch and Business
Watch.
Did you know that each home in the village is part
of one of 41 Neighbourhood Watch Schemes in Uphill each with a
Street Coordinator?
